Dani Alves offers himself at FC Barcelona: “If you need me, you should call me”

Dani Alves is ready for a return to ailing FC Barcelona. The current condition of the club does not come as a surprise to him.
The long-running Brazilian Dani Alves can imagine returning to FC Barcelona to help the Catalans in their current difficult phase. “If Barca think they can use me, just give me a call,” the 38-year-old said in an interview with the Spanish newspaper Sports.
Alves had played for Barcelona from 2008 to 2016 and during this time he won the Champions League three times. Most recently, he worked for Sao Paulo FC in his home country from 2019 to mid-September, but the club separated from Alves after Alves skipped training due to a lack of salary. The right-back has been without a club since then.
Alves sure: I can help Barca
Despite his old age, Alves is convinced that he can still help his ex-club. “I think I could still make my contribution anywhere, but especially at Barca because they have so many young players,” said Alves, who believes that his experience can bring an important element to the team. “Everywhere I have been, it has been about the perfect mix of youth and experience,” he said. According to information from Goal and SPOXHowever, there are currently no considerations for a return campaign.
The current situation of his ex-club does not come as a surprise to Alves. “I’ve always said that I left because things weren’t going the way I thought they should be. Nobody wants to see something like this, which has happened since I left the club,” Alves said Ex-President Josep Maria Bartomeu.
“When you can look back on such a long history and have so much respected this house and gave your life for it, you don’t want to see it being ruined by others, you don’t want to become an accomplice. I went and warned. And I have said, when Barça need and want me, I am available, no matter where I am. The affection, love and respect I have for this club are too great, “Alves continued.
The proud club is currently overwhelmed by a heavy debt burden, Bartomeu’s successor Joan Laporta is mainly busy keeping the business going. But Alves believes Laporta can get the club back on track. “Joan knows what I think of him and what he has done for Barça and for all of us. This is nothing new. It is clear and I have always said it. I am very, very happy that he is back at the helm. He was faced with a problem, but if I think there is someone who can solve it, it’s Joan, “says Alves with conviction.
