Dancers offer an aerial ballet, suspended on the Méca

On the occasion of Heritage Days, this Saturday at 6 p.m., an air show is offered on the site of the House of Creative Economy and Culture in New Aquitaine (Méca) in Bordeaux, by
the company Tango Nomade. It is known to emancipate the art of dance from the tracks and stages to meet the spectators, in public places.

Between dance and the circus arts

For this ballet, the dancers, under the artistic direction of Pim Nivet, adopt a technique borrowed from Alpine explorers and will set off to attack the gigantic building of the Méca. This place which brings together the cultural agencies of New Aquitaine opened in 2019. The show has adapted to its atypical loop shape and its colossal dimensions (120 m long and 37 m high), signed by the architect Bjarke Ingels. The ballet, announced halfway between contemporary dance and the circus arts, is free entry but an online reservation is required,
on the OARA website.

Méca’s three cultural agencies (OARA, ALCA, FRAC) are increasing the number of free initiatives (exhibitions, screenings, performances, workshops, bookstore space, etc.) on the occasion of heritage days and guided tours are also organized to discover this building with astonishing architecture. All the day’s program is available online on the site.
