Dahbia B. would not suffer from “any mental disorder having alternated her discernment”

In his report delivered on November 28, the psychiatric expert estimated that Dahbia B., 24, the main suspect in the investigation into the murder of Lola, 12, did not suffer from “any psychic or neuropsychic disorder having abolished or altered his discernment”, report our colleagues from Parisian. This expertise makes it possible to dismiss the argument of the abolition or the alteration of the discernment of Dahbia B., and should therefore allow the holding of a trial at the assizes.

In the event of abolished discernment, criminal irresponsibility can be declared, preventing the holding of a trial. In the event of tampering, the suspect is considered subject to criminal sanction but his sentence may be reduced. Two sources familiar with the matter confirmed to AFP the meaning of this expertise.

A manipulative woman with a “perverse structure”

In his report submitted to the investigating judge, the psychiatric expert paints the portrait of a manipulative woman with a “perverse structure” with “a high psychopathic narcissistic potential”. The one who is suspected of having killed, tortured and raped Lola on October 14 in the 19th arrondissement of Paris, would also have a tendency to “pathological lying” and a “lack of empathy and guilt”. According to the daily, the crime with which Dahbia B. is accused is “well and truly related to a serious and complex personality disorder” and the suspect’s risk of violence is “assessed as being very high”.

This expertise was required by the investigating judge during the custody of the young 24-year-old woman. The first elements on the personality of Dahbia B., indicted after the discovery of the lifeless body of the 12-year-old schoolgirl, had immediately revealed a chaotic life course marked by marginalization and violence. “The disclosure of a new element of the investigation, yet covered by secrecy, reveals a patent dysfunction of our judicial system (…). In the name of what right can such a violation of secrecy be admitted in a democracy worthy of the name? asked Me Alexandre Silva, lawyer for Dahbia B.

Detained in Fresnes pending further investigation

During her police custody, the suspect had had “fluctuating statements (…) oscillating between recognition and dispute of the facts”, according to a press release the Paris prosecutor, Laure Beccuau. After having detailed the sequence of events until the death of Lola and her journey with the box containing the body of the schoolgirl, Dahbia B. had reconsidered her statements in her last hearings with the criminal brigade. She had explained “having told a dream and not reality”, arguing that she “was able to defend herself against a knife attack while indicating that she had fought against a ghost”.

These statements had questioned the investigators, the lawyers and the prosecution on the discernment of the one who is nicknamed “Dina”. Currently, the suspect, indicted for “murder and rape with an act of torture and barbarity on a minor under 15 years old” is being held in the women’s remand center in Fresnes (Val-de-Marne).
