Up to 10,000 fans can sit in the stands, they must be vaccinated, recovered and tested or boosted. While Omikron sweeps across the country outside, “La Ola” rolls again in the stadium according to the motto: Get up when you’re vaccinated! And from the curve it whispers: “And if you don’t jump, you’re not a vaccinee, hey, hey.”
The neutral viewer eagerly awaits the fan chants of the boosted hooligans. There has recently been enough inspiration for new catchy cheers. Above all, people who demonstrated against the so-called “walkers” were creative. When vaccination opponents, pandemic deniers and conspiracy believers recently walked through the city center in Munich, masked young people ran towards them in a crowd and chanted: “We’re boosted!” And when the self-proclaimed “walkers” marched up the Karlsberg in Dachau a few weeks ago, they were greeted by a chorus of those who had been vaccinated three times: “We’re boosted, we’re fine. Instead of marching with Nazis, let yourself be immunized. We’re boosted, we’re fine .” Resisting the catchy tune: futile. Even a few people who downplayed Corona applauded.
Dachau or Starnberg – who will be German champion?
Unfortunately, the analogy between football and the corona pandemic does not always work. Both spheres are based on different logics: If you are at the top of the table in football, you are top. Anyone who is at the top of the seven-day incidence is also top. But nobody wants to be the leader.
Now the Dachau district has been playing in the Covid Champions League for a few weeks. The seven-day incidence is almost nowhere higher. In Bavaria, Dachau has repeatedly been neck and neck with Starnberg in the past few days. Starnberg led on Tuesday, on Wednesday Dachau passed again.
Experts cannot explain this failure. The carelessness in some minds regarding the danger of Omicron could be decisive. But that is pure speculation. Hardly anyone dares to predict who will be at the front at the end of the wave. Dachau or Starnberg? And in the stadium they sing: Only the district will be German champion…
