Cuts in federal funding for the independent scene endanger numerous dance projects – Culture

Dance professionals are tough. In mid-September they protested in the pouring rain in front of the Brandenburg Gate. The event is intended to prevent collapse: if, from 2025 onwards, less or no more federal funding is available, a lot of projects, initiatives and artists will collapse. “Diversity instead of simplicity” is the demand of the afternoon, loudly chanted and performed with waving hands. It looks pretty crazy, but trivializes the impending cuts to the detriment of the independent scene.
