Customs seizes 24,000 bottles of fake Red Bull from Haiti

Major seizure by Guadeloupe customs. During two checks at the Grand Port Maritime, they discovered no less than 24,000 bottles of the Toro brand, fake Red Bull.

According to Olivier Fouque, regional director of customs for Guadeloupe and the Northern Islands, an initial inspection on August 24 revealed “hundreds of packs of bottles in bulk” inside a “container on board a ship coming from Haiti, via Jamaica.”

A total of “14,448 bottles” were seized, as well as “nearly 2,500 liters of undeclared rum, discovered at the bottom of the container,” according to the same source.

Destruction of goods refused

Some “9,646 additional bottles were discovered in a container from the same source” on September 13, added Olivier Fouque.

The goods were “placed in customs detention” for examination by the owner of the Red Bull brand, who confirmed that they were “items counterfeiting its authentic products,” Olivier Fouque told AFP.

According to Guadeloupe customs, “the importing company is known for similar acts.” A source close to the case told AFP that the Toro brand, present in Haiti, refused to have the goods destroyed.
