Eintracht Frankfurt will hold the training camp in Dubai. Oliver Glasner cannot understand the criticism of the SGE fans.

In order to prepare for the second half of the season, Eintracht Frankfurt will move to a training camp in Dubai. This announcement caused a fair amount of criticism from the fan community. However, Oliver Glasner “cannot understand” this criticism.

the World Championship Qatar is not the only opportunity to remind football to avoid partnerships with countries where there are major human rights issues. What many criticized before and around the World Cup now also applies to Eintracht Frankfurt to a certain extent.

As the club announced on Tuesday, SGE will move into a training camp in Dubai in early January. The goal, much more common than the travel destination: the club wants to be as well prepared as possible for the second part of the season.

However, there is loud criticism of the selection of Dubai from the fan community. The problematic human rights situation is pointed out – as is also the case with the World Cup in Qatar.

Glasner defends Dubai training camp: ‘Be careful not to abuse the sport’

Oliver Glasner, on the other hand, defends the scheduled training camp. He clarified that he “can’t understand” the criticism that’s coming up (via table football).

“We don’t have to justify going to the training camp in Dubai,” the coach said clearly. He substantiated this statement with the fact that Dubai has meanwhile also become a popular travel destination for private holidays for many Germans.

“If football or sport as a whole always commented on all the grievances, we would just be busy with that every week. There are many grievances in the world, in many countries,” he said. As an athlete, you don’t have to comment on every misconduct by others.

Glasner continues: “Where do you start and where do you stop? We have to be careful not to abuse the sport.”

The training camp was chosen because of the good conditions and therefore for “purely sporting reasons”. The SGE sees the optimal circumstances in order to be able to prepare as well as possible. In view of the workload of the team, this is “very important”.

Of course you have to keep an eye on “many developments in the world” and position yourself accordingly, the coach introduced his closing speech. “But we must not lose our focus and must concentrate on our job.”
