A woman is shot dead in a shop near Lake Constance. She works there. Her husband is now in custody.

A 47-year-old is said to have killed his wife with several shots in a shop near Lake Constance. One day after the act in Markdorf (Baden-Württemberg) on Saturday, an arrest warrant was issued against the man. He was arrested shortly after the shooting.

According to the police, the man had visited the 44-year-old drunk on Saturday afternoon in the shop where the woman sold household goods and stationery. He fired multiple shots at her there and left the scene without the gun he is said to have used. He used a taxi to escape.

“At the time of the crime, there were several customers in the store who then fled the building,” the spokesman said. But no other people were injured. The man with an Albanian passport was provisionally arrested a little later. The motive for the crime is still unclear.

Markdorf’s Mayor Georg Riedmann reacted dismayed. “Today a terrible crime was committed in our city,” he wrote on Facebook on Saturday evening and said goodbye “with a silent greeting”.
