Dramatic footage shows a hostage escaping from a year-long captivity. The woman reaches a gas station just seconds before her tormentor. Images from the surveillance cameras testify: at the last moment, she manages to lock the door from the inside before the kidnapper can enter the gas station. The owner of the gas station calls the police. She was able to arrest the fugitive kidnapper in the meantime. The 57-year-old man is said to have held the woman captive in Burlington County, New Jersey, repeatedly choked her and threatened to murder her family if she left him. The woman says she hitchhiked the kidnapper at a gas station in New Mexico. According to her, they had been in an amicable relationship for a month. When she wanted to leave him, he is said to have locked her up and abused her. The woman is said to have planned the escape longer, she had noticed the door of the gas station that could be locked from the inside and waited for a suitable moment.
