The 17-year-old, who is said to have killed a teacher in Ibbenbüren in early 2023, was found dead in Herford prison on Wednesday. As the public prosecutor’s office in Bielefeld announced at noon, a death investigation had been initiated. The body will be autopsied on Friday. According to the JVA, the situation in the solitary cell indicates a suicide. The “Westfalen-Blatt” (online) had previously reported.
The 55-year-old teacher was stabbed to death on January 10 in a classroom at a vocational college in Ibbenbüren, north of Münster on the state border with Lower Saxony. The alleged perpetrator was one of her students. After the fact, he called the emergency number himself and was arrested without resistance. Since then he has been in custody. He had been verbally aggressive before the act, and the school had ordered educational measures. The student had not commented on the motive to the investigators until the very end.
