When TV commissioners leave a series, they are playing with their lives in the script. Siegfried Lowitz was shot by Christoph Waltz. Christian Ulmen ended up as a television ghost. What is Charly Hübner in bloom?

In 2022 the last “Polizeiruf 110” in Rostock will run with Charly Hübner as Sascha Bukow. But how his character leaves the series should remain top secret until the last moment.

That is why the Norddeutsche Rundfunk (NDR) does not even show the television critics the end of the Sunday evening crime story before it is broadcast.

“In order to keep the tension and to rule out any spoilers about how this character leaves the series, we ask for your understanding that we will be showing the film in the screening room without the last 15 minutes.” In such a virtual space, TV reviewers can usually view a movie before it is shown on TV to make recommendations. This time you only get to see the first 75 of the 90 minutes of thriller. The Sunday evening thriller «None of us» runs on January 9th in the first.

Spoilers are unexpected perspectives on an important highlight or plot change in a program. Journalists who review a TV program, a movie or a book are generally very reluctant to use spoilers. Or they warn readers who want to be surprised with an announcement that anticipation of important parts of the plot awaits them in the text.

Now the fans can puzzle. Because the departure of a TV commissioner from a crime series has already seen many variations on German television. Sometimes it meant death for the investigator figure. The fatal shots at ZDF commissioner Erwin Köster (Siegfried Lowitz) in 1986 were a bit of a shock for the audience. The shooter in the crime thriller was, by the way, the later James Bond villain Christoph Waltz. “Tatort” investigator Christian Ulmen recently even haunted his last episode in the role of Commissioner Lessing as a ghost. But it often happens quite bloodlessly. The “Tatort” commissioners Paul Stoever (Manfred Krug) and Peter Brockmöller (Charles Brauer) said goodbye in 2001 with a swing and cheerleaders.

“None of us” is the last “Polizeiruf 110” from Rostock after almost twelve years with Charly Hübner as inspector Sascha Bukow. The actor’s departure became known in May. At the time, Hübner told the news magazine “Spiegel”: “At some point the character began to dominate my entire work. Then directors come in completely different work contexts and say: “Come on, do the Bukow!” That is contrary to what I want. “
