A 75-year-old Rau is found dead in Obernkirchen, Lower Saxony. She was the victim of a violent crime. Does the fugitive ax murderer have anything to do with this?

A 75-year-old woman was the victim of a violent crime in her stationery shop in the small town of Obernkirchen in Lower Saxony. The spokesman for the public prosecutor’s office in Bückeburg, Nils-Holger Dreisig, said the investigation was being carried out on the basis of the evidence on site.

The woman’s body was autopsied on Tuesday to clarify the exact cause of death and to narrow down the time of the crime. When there will be a result is still unclear.

The 75-year-old was found dead in her shop in the small town between Bückeburg and Stadthagen on Monday afternoon. According to the spokesman, the shop was open in the morning. In the border region of Lower Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia, a 36-year-old is being searched for, who is said to have killed the 39-year-old lover of his ex-girlfriend with an ax ten days ago in Kalletal (Lippe district).

Investigations in all directions

The spokesman said it was being checked whether the suspected ax murderer who was wanted could have been involved in the crime in Obernkirchen. “There is currently no evidence of that.” Investigations are carried out in all directions, and a motive in the personal area is also conceivable. Whether there was a sexual offense is still the subject of the investigation, said Dreizig when asked. The public prosecutor’s office initially also did not provide any information as to whether anything was stolen in the stationery shop.

On the day of the crime in Obernkirchen, the investigators had intensified the search for the 36-year-old. They offered a reward for information from witnesses and put up wanted posters in Kalletal and in Rinteln in Lower Saxony. The man from Azerbaijan is said to have raped his ex-girlfriend after the ax murder. In order to find him, leaflets were also distributed to Eastern European truck drivers.

A fire broke out on Tuesday night just a few houses away from the stationery store where the 75-year-old woman was found dead. According to the police, one of the residents of the house suffered minor injuries and were taken to a hospital. Because of the temporal and spatial proximity to the stationery shop, a connection is also being examined in this case, said public prosecutor Dreizig. An expert was appointed. In addition, the investigators are now hoping for further insights from witness interviews.
