Alleged sex offender in custody

After information from the population, the 34-year-old was arrested on Thursday. He is now in custody. He is accused of sexual abuse of children.
A suspected sex offender was taken into custody one day after his arrest in Marburg. The judge had issued the arrest warrant because of the strong suspicion of serious sexual abuse of children and the production of child pornographic content, said the Hessian State Criminal Police Office in Wiesbaden, the Marburg public prosecutor’s office and the police headquarters in central and northern Hesse on Friday. The 34-year-old did not provide any information on the allegations.
According to the investigations so far, he is said to have contacted children and young people via Internet platforms and messenger services from November 2022 to mid-May this year. He is said to have met with some and performed sexual acts on them in return for donations such as money or gifts. In other cases, he is said to have asked the children and young people he contacted to perform sexual acts on themselves and to send him photos or videos of them.
The authorities are still assuming that at least eleven children and young people from the Schwalm-Eder district, the district of Marburg-Biedenkopf, Wiesbaden, North Rhine-Westphalia and Saarland were injured. According to the report, a lot of evidence was found during the search of the man’s apartment in Marburg on Thursday, including data carriers that are now being evaluated.
On Wednesday evening, the police called on the population to help find the previously unidentified man and also published photos of him. There were several concrete indications of the 34-year-old, and the arrest took place on Thursday afternoon. A telephone number has been set up for other possible victims, but according to the public prosecutor’s office no one has reported it so far.
