The Queen’s coffin is believed to have belonged to King Charles III. and his sons William and Harry to Parliament. There could also be new hope for the quarreling brothers.

King Charles III and his estranged sons Prince William and Prince Harry escort Queen Elizabeth II’s coffin to the British Parliament. The palace announced on Tuesday evening.

The funeral procession with the Queen’s son and grandchildren is scheduled to leave Buckingham Palace on Wednesday at 2:22 p.m. (local time; 3:22 p.m. CEST) and head towards Westminster Hall, the oldest part of the British Parliament.

The Queen’s other children – Princess Anne, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward – will also follow the coffin on foot. Also joining the funeral procession are Anne’s son Peter Philips and her husband Admiral Tim Laurence, as well as the Duke of Gloucester, a cousin of the Queen, and the Earl of Snowdon, her nephew. Charles’ wife Queen Camilla, William’s wife Princess Kate and Harry’s wife Duchess Meghan are driven behind the coffin in cars.

Public bids farewell to the Queen

The procession is scheduled to arrive at Westminster Hall at 3:00 p.m. (4:00 p.m. CEST). A short service is planned there, before finally the public can say goodbye to the Queen at the coffin for several days. The state funeral will take place next Monday. The Queen died last Thursday at Balmoral Castle, Scotland, aged 96.

Hope for reconciliation between William and Harry

The relationships between the brothers William and Harry are considered to be heavily burdened. Harry and Meghan have made serious allegations against the royal family in several interviews. Only the Queen exempted them from the allegations. With father Charles taking office as king, there is now new hope for reconciliation. In his first speech to the nation, the new monarch emphasized his love for Harry and Meghan. Most recently, the couple, who have lived in California with their children Archie and Lilibet for a long time, showed up demonstratively together with William and Kate at Windsor Castle. In a statement, the Duke of Sussex, as Harry’s official title is, also announced that he would honor his father as king.
