Bathing, bus travel, garbage fees: city dwellers have to dig deeper into their pockets in many areas in the New Year. Maybe soon on the toilet.
Petrol prices above 1.50 euros have long since become a habit. Whether food or electrical appliances – inflation is noticeable in the wallet. The fees for parking in the city center are to be increased, which has sparked discussions in the past few days. But the people of Munich will also have to spend more money in other areas in the future.
City and municipal utilities increase prices. Natural gas has cost 25 percent more since January 1, and an average household with two people pays around 23 euros more per month, according to calculations by the municipal utilities. The price of electricity rises by around four euros per month for an average household. As compensation, the city is planning a one-time grant for needy households of up to 100 euros.
Entry tickets to the baths also increased in price at the turn of the year. For more puristic swimming pools like the Müller’sche Volksbad, the entry price is now five euros, for special attractions in the pool, such as slides or wave pools, six euros.

The MVV had already implemented an increase in ticket prices in December, and since January this has also applied to subscription customers – the monthly ticket now costs 59.10 instead of the previous 57 euros. Since then, a day ticket for Zone M has cost 8.20 euros, an increase of 30 cents.
The waste management company has also been charging higher prices since the turn of the year. For customers, this means additional monthly costs of between 1.32 euros in a multi-family house per household and 2.99 euros in a single-family house. Price increases for the use of public toilets from 60 to 80 cents and for tickets to the Hellabrunn zoo from 15 to 18 euros for a day pass could also be pending. The city councils will soon decide on this.
