FDP and Greens against continuation of the pandemic emergency

The FDP and the Greens consider an extension of the pandemic emergency to be unconstitutional and want to vote against it in the Bundestag today. “When we asked, the federal government was not even able to convincingly demonstrate to us that the health system is likely to be overburdened,” said FDP party vice-president Wolfgang Kubicki to the editorial network in Germany. But this is the mandatory legal requirement for the extension of this emergency. Green parliamentary leader Katrin Göring-Eckhardt also sees the vaccines no longer providing a basis for an extension. “We now need a regulation that fits the new situation and takes into account the number of people vaccinated, no business as usual”. The Basic Law sets restrictions on freedom within a narrow framework. They therefore consider an unchanged prolongation of the epidemic situation to be wrong.
