District Administrator Christoph Göbel is in quarantine. His deputy Ernst Weidenbusch (CSU) announced this to the visitors to the Grasbrunn Citizens’ Assembly on Thursday with the words: “Now he’s caught too.” This in turn caused some confusion, especially since Weidenbusch stated that Göbel is currently not keeping appointments because he has had contact with an infected person and is considered a category one contact person. Isn’t the district administrator vaccinated? Yes, it is and it is complete.
Göbel made it clear on Friday that his quarantine was purely voluntary. As a twice vaccinee, he does not have to stay at home. Now all three children at the district administrator have tested positive for the corona virus. These are under twelve years of age and therefore could not be vaccinated. A child probably brought the virus home from school. There are “close contacts” with their own children, Göbel said on Friday in a phone call with the SZ. He and his wife could not isolate their 15-month-old daughter in one room. He tests himself daily, but because vaccinated people with a negative test can pass the virus on, he currently only keeps appointments outdoors or online. He can be represented by his vice-president at events. Goebel continues to do desk work himself. “I drive to the office at night when nobody is there,” he says. On the advice of his colleague, he even wears gloves when working on files.
Meanwhile, everyone in his family is fine again. “For me it also showed how contagious the Delta variant is,” he emphasizes. Neighbors’ children who only had contact outside would also have infected each other. On the other hand, he was also able to determine that the vaccination was working.
The current rules stipulate that there is no quarantine obligation for close contacts from the 15th day after the final second vaccination. This also applies to those who have recovered, whose previous illness has been confirmed with a PCR test and who have been vaccinated with a dose of vaccine. Close contacts who were infected at least 28 days and no more than six months ago also do not have to be quarantined.
