On the plane you don’t have to, on the ICE you do, and on the bus it depends – no one understands that. But if you care about your health, you shouldn’t take off your mask right away. Because: Germany has a real virus problem right now.

The truth about the mask requirement is that many people experience it as a relic long ago. The corona virus, with the threat of which mask wearing once began, has lost its terror. Instead of causing an immense winter wave, it was only enough for a small rebellion in autumn. And what’s more, the mask has become unbelievable in the jumble of diverse regulations. You no longer have to wear a face mask on a plane, but you do on the ICE, and what applies on regional trains or buses depends on the federal state.
