Corona protests in Munich: initiators cancel the demo train – Munich

As in the past weeks, there will be demonstrations in the city center regarding corona measures this Wednesday. This is the first time that a larger alliance appears for Committed to the measures: The young politicians of the Greens have rallied other youth organizations and are promoting “vaccinations and solidarity in the pandemic” between 6 and 8 pm on Odeonsplatz. 500 participants are registered and they will presumably adhere to all the requirements of the district administration department (KVR). If only to show that it is possible to exercise one’s right to demonstrate, even with masks and a suitable distance.

The opponents of the corona measures consciously ignore the corresponding requirements. With their latest elevators, one increasingly got the impression that it was no longer about the matter at all, but about showing off the state and its authorities. This game of cat and mouse continues.

On Tuesday, the initiative “Munich stands up” said its planned train with 3000 participants through the Maxvorstadt, because this meeting would have been relocated to the Theresienwiese again by the KVR. Melchior Ibing, the driving force behind the movement, announced in a video that the organizers now wanted to hold “a cozy, tiny gathering of five on the Theresienwiese”. He dismissed his sympathizers with the words: “What you do is your free decision.”

Instead of a large group, prefer many small groups – that is obviously the new tactic

Experience has shown that lateral thinkers will decide to organize so-called “spontaneous walks”. In any case, the police are preparing for a similar scenario as they did a week ago when they first effectively took action against the unauthorized marches. But the strollers are evidently in the process of changing their strategy: Instead of being in a large crowd, this time they could also be out in decentralized groups in order to split up the police force.

There had already been various smaller gatherings in the city on Monday evening that had not been registered. At the Pasing town hall, the police observed how a group formed around 6 p.m. and made their way towards Bäckerstraße. The people neither kept their distance nor wore masks. The elevator in Rathausgasse was stopped; With reference to the applicable general order, the officers established 44 personal details and reported the violations. There were acts of resistance in two cases, which were also reported.

A little later, around 6.45 p.m., a group of around 70 people came together at Odeonsplatz and moved to Marienplatz. This group quickly dispersed and mingled with the usual strollers in the pedestrian zone. Nevertheless, the police determined personal details and issued evictions in 25 cases; there were also two criminal charges for insulting and violating the assembly law.

Obvious opponents of the corona measures were also on the way in the district, but the police only counted more than 100 participants in Unterhaching (170) and Ottobrunn (130). Because the assembly was not registered, violations of the Assembly Act were reported there as well.
