Germany and the EU have ordered much more vaccine against Covid-19 than is now needed. The costs are immense. Karl Lauterbach and his predecessor now have to answer many uncomfortable questions.
In Germany, around 83 million doses of vaccine against Covid-19 expired and were disposed of by the end of March 2023. And that alone with the federal government, i.e. with the state. Federal Minister of Health Karl Lauterbach (SPD) informed the budget committee of the Bundestag about this in a non-public meeting. These around 83 million cans “expired in the central warehouse and were sent for professional disposal,” Lauterbach and his ministry told the budget committee last week.
