Austria again corona high risk area

The federal government has again classified large parts of Austria as a corona high-risk area. The regulation has been in effect since midnight and has concrete consequences: Anyone entering Germany from a high-risk area and who does not have at least full basic protection with the second vaccination that is usually necessary or has recovered must be in quarantine for ten days. You can get rid of it with a negative test after five days at the earliest. For children who have not yet reached the age of six, the quarantine ends automatically five days after entry. The only exceptions to the upgrade are the communities of Mittelberg and Jungholz near the border, as well as the Riißtal in the community of Vomp and Eben am Achensee. All nine of Germany’s neighboring countries are now on the risk list. In addition to Austria, more than 30 other countries have been listed there since today, many of them in Africa and the Caribbean. From Germany’s point of view, almost 140 of the approximately 200 countries in the world are currently considered high-risk areas.

4,449 new corona infections reported for Lower Saxony

The seven-day incidence of new corona infections has also increased again in Lower Saxony. According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), it is currently 417.1 nationwide – and thus higher than at any time since the beginning of the pandemic. For comparison: Yesterday the value was 402.5, last Sunday 296.0. The number of new laboratory-confirmed corona cases is given as 4,449 (previous day: 6,298 / previous week: 3,115). Four more deaths were registered in connection with corona infections, so the total number in Lower Saxony is now officially 6,994.

Lauterbach: Corona vaccination should include three doses

According to Federal Minister of Health Karl Lauterbach, compulsory vaccination against the corona virus should include three injections. “A full vaccination consists of three doses. Those who are fully vaccinated are protected against all corona variants – at least from serious illness and death. The compulsory vaccination must be based on this,” said the SPD politician of the “Bild am Sonntag”. Scientists around the world agree that the emergence of a variant against which you have no protection as a person who has been vaccinated three times is extremely unlikely. At the same time, the minister warned: “The variant alphabet will not end with omicron.” It is quite possible that you will have to deal with a mutated Delta type in the fall. Anyone who now falls ill with omicron without being vaccinated would probably have protection against infection of well under 50 percent against a new Delta variant in autumn, he said. “Without additional vaccinations, these people would then be at high risk. There is therefore no way around vaccination,” says Lauterbach.

RKI: Nationwide seven-day incidence rises above 500 for the first time

The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) once again reports a high for the nationwide seven-day incidence. According to this, the value of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants per week is 515.7 this morning – and thus above the threshold of 500 for the first time. The previous day the value was 497.1, a week ago it was 362.7 (previous month: 422.3). The health authorities in Germany reported 52,504 new corona infections to the RKI within one day. There were 78,022 infections yesterday and 36,552 last Sunday. According to the new information, 47 further deaths were recorded across Germany within 24 hours. The number of people who died from or involved a proven infection with Sars-CoV-2 has risen to 115,619 since the beginning of the pandemic.

Hamburg: Is there any information about vaccination options?

Vaccination organizations complain that there is no overarching information service for Hamburg. The city’s offers would be advertised in the first place. Links to the other offers on the Hamburg website refer to vaccinations – often to hospitals or selected doctors from the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians. Private initiatives are completely absent. Vaccination is organized differently in Berlin and Bremen.
