The corona autumn wave is now causing a four-digit incidence in Munich. On Friday morning, the Robert Koch Institute reported a value of 1057.3 for the city, where the numbers had already risen sharply in the second week of the Oktoberfest.
The official values are also over 1000 in nine Bavarian districts. On Thursday only four districts were above this threshold, a week ago not a single one. Throughout Bavaria, the incidence rose to 818, which is an increase of almost 25 percent within a week. This means that the values are no longer rising as quickly as in the week before last – however, they may still be distorted by the public holiday on Monday. In addition, individual counties apparently did not report any current figures to the RKI.
The incidence figures have also generally lost a bit of their meaningfulness. Experts have been assuming for some time that there will be a high number of corona cases not recorded by the RKI – mainly because not all infected people have a PCR test done. Only positive PCR tests count in the statistics. In addition, late registrations and transmission problems can lead to the distortion of individual daily values.
The highest incidence in Bavaria is currently in the districts of Fürstenfeldbruck with 1333.6, Ebersberg with 1265.2 and Dachau with 1206.8. A certain concentration around Munich, where the Oktoberfest ended at the beginning of the week, is also noticeable. Both the city and three of the four directly adjoining districts are over 1000, the district of Munich only relatively slightly below.
