In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, the authorities have registered 8,409 new corona infections since Tuesday. 100 of the Covid patients are being treated in intensive care units across the country. The seven-day incidence of new infections rises to 2,387.0, the state hospitalization incidence is 12.2. The nationwide Corona traffic light is still on “red”.
The number of registered new corona infections in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania has increased by 8,409 cases since Tuesday (as of Wednesday 5:30 p.m.). That’s 118 more cases than a week ago. The number of deaths is 1,882 (+12).

According to LAGuS, as of Wednesday, 3,227,535 doses of vaccine had been administered in the north-east. Accordingly, 1,196,267 people have been vaccinated at least once and are thus partially immunized (vaccination rate 74.3 percent). 1,194,756 people are basic immunized, i.e. double vaccinated (vaccination rate 74.2 percent). 902,431 people received a booster vaccination (vaccination rate 56.0 percent).
Hospitalization incidence is 12.2
The incidence value of corona patients brought to a clinic for treatment within seven days per 100,000 inhabitants is 12.2 (+0.7). The nationwide Corona traffic light is still on “red”. According to figures from LAGuS and the Ministry of Health, 782 (+60) people are currently being treated in a hospital nationwide for Covid 19 disease. According to LAGuS, 100 (+13) of them are in an intensive care unit. According to the intensive care register (as of Wednesday 5:05 p.m.), 41 (+-0) patients are being ventilated invasively.
Highest hospitalization incidence in Western Pomerania-Greifswald
The district of Vorpommern-Greifswald has the highest incidence of hospitalization at 19.9. It is followed by the Mecklenburg Lake District with 14.3, Western Pomerania-Rügen with 13.8, Schwerin with 12.6, the district of Rostock with 9.7, Ludwigslust-Parchim with 9.0, Northwest Mecklenburg with 8.9 and the Hanseatic City of Rostock 7.7.

The seven-day incidence of new infections in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is only a secondary criterion for determining the corona protection measures. According to LAGuS, the threshold values were raised here by a factor of seven: According to calculations, the risk that treatment in an intensive care unit will be necessary is about seven times lower in the case of an infection with the currently dominant omicron variant than with the delta variant .
The seven-day new incidence rises to 2,387.0 (+89.0) in the country. The district of Rostock has the highest incidence of new infections with 3080.1, the lowest in the Mecklenburg Lake District with 1,183.8. Since December 2021, the LAGuS has no longer reported the incidence broken down into vaccinated and unvaccinated people because the data would be “incomplete” due to the data being transmitted too late.

1,656 new infections in the Rostock district
The Rostock district reports the most newly infected people with 1,656 cases. This is followed by Western Pomerania-Rügen (1,450), Northwest Mecklenburg (1,168), Ludwigslust-Parchim (1,141), Western Pomerania-Greifswald (1,085), the Hanseatic City of Rostock (688), the Mecklenburg Lake District (645) and Schwerin (576).
Seven-day incidence in 6- to 11-year-olds rises to 5,419 in MV
LAGuS has not published any separate school and day-care center figures since January. Instead, there is a status report that is broken down by age group. According to this, there are (as of Wednesday 11:06 a.m.) 427 new infections among 0- to 5-year-olds nationwide, the seven-day incidence of new infections in this group is 2,512. In the group of 6 to 11 year olds there are 1,036 new infections, the incidence is 5,419. According to LAGuS, 828 young people between the ages of 12 and 17 were also infected in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The seven-day incidence in this group is 4,681. The regional leader is the group of 6 to 11 year olds in the district of Rostock with an incidence of 6,541.
The LAGuS reports 71 active cases of infection from the geriatric care facilities (-5). 1,248 residents (-44) and 631 employees (-26) are affected.
