In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, the authorities have registered 392 new corona infections since Saturday. 88 percent of the intensive care beds intended for corona patients are occupied nationwide. The seven-day incidence of new infections increases to 420.0. The state hospitalization incidence drops to 8.9. Because it was previously above the threshold of 9 for three days in a row, closings in the leisure and cultural sector will come into force again from Monday.
The number of registered new corona infections has risen by 392 cases in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania since Saturday (as of Sunday 4:18 p.m.). That’s two cases less than a week ago. The number of deaths remained constant at 1,515 (+0).

According to the LAGuS, as of Friday, 2,852,761 vaccine doses have been administered in the northeast. Accordingly, 1,166,433 people were vaccinated at least once (vaccination rate 72.4 percent). 1,131,671 people are fully vaccinated (vaccination rate 70.3 percent). 620,161 people received a booster vaccination (vaccination rate 38.5 percent).
Hospitalization incidence is 8.9 – closings as of Monday
The incidence value of corona patients who were brought to a clinic for treatment within seven days per 100,000 inhabitants is 8.9 (-0.3). Because the Corona warning light had previously been on “red” nationwide for three days in a row, the regulations of the “Red-Plus” level will come into force nationwide from Monday. Cultural and leisure facilities will be closed.

Because the Higher Administrative Court in Greifswald overturned the measurement of the ITS utilization as a secondary criterion on Friday and overruled the corresponding regulations, the ITS utilization is no longer taken into account in the LAGuS’s current Corona report. According to figures from the LAGuS and the Ministry of Health, 317 (+3) people across the country are currently being treated for a Covid-19 disease in a hospital, of which, according to LAGuS, 88 (-3) are in an intensive care unit. According to the intensive care registry (as of Sunday 5:15 p.m.), 53 (+1) patients are being ventilated invasively.
Hospitalization incidence highest in the Mecklenburg Lake District
The Mecklenburg Lake District has the highest incidence of hospitalization at 16.3. This is followed by the district of Vorpommern-Greifswald with 14.0, the district of Rostock with 9.7, Vorpommern-Rügen with 7.5 and the city of Schwerin with 6.3. The Hanseatic city of Rostock reports 6.2, the district of Ludwigslust-Parchim 4.2 and the district of Northwest Mecklenburg 1.9. The seven-day incidence of new infections is only a secondary criterion for determining the corona protective measures in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. It rises to 420.0 (+6.7). The Mecklenburg Lake District has the highest incidence of new infections with 558.4, the city of Schwerin has the lowest with 320.1. The LAGuS no longer shows the incidence separated into vaccinated and unvaccinated persons, because data that are transmitted late would result in “incomplete presentations”. In addition, the LAGuS made further changes to the management report and the tier map.

138 new infections in the Mecklenburg Lake District
The Mecklenburg Lake District reports the most newly infected people with 138, followed by the city of Rostock (98), the Ludwigslust-Parchim district (51), Western Pomerania-Greifswald (34), Western Pomerania-Rügen (28), the Rostock district (19), Northwest Mecklenburg (14) and Schwerin (13).
16 active infection events in old people’s homes
The LAGuS also publishes figures on the situation in schools and daycare centers as well as in old people’s homes during the week. Accordingly, there were 36 active infections at the schools in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania as of Friday (+19). 50 students (+18) and 7 teachers or employees (+5) are affected. In the daycare centers and after-school care centers, the LAGuS reported active infection events in 18 facilities (+ -8). 11 children (+2) and two employees (-10) are affected. The LAGuS reported 16 active infection events (+2) from the geriatric care facilities. 84 residents (+9) and 51 employees (+9) are affected.
Almost 40 percent of all North Germans were boosted by the end of 2021. The number of weekly first vaccinations more than doubled in mid-November, but has stagnated at a comparatively low level since then. Every week, the NDR shows how the speed of first, second and booster vaccinations is developing in the northern German states.
