Corona in Munich: Study on mental stress on migrants – Munich

Elif Cindik-Herbrüggen is the only Turkish-speaking specialist in psychiatry and psychotherapy in Munich – and has examined how migrants fared during the pandemic. A conversation about language barriers, media consumption and concerns about medical disadvantage.

Many people around the world reacted to the outbreak of the corona pandemic two years ago with fear and depression. Elif Cindik-Herbrüggen has in a study examined the psychological stress of 170 Munich residents of Turkish origin in the first year of Corona. In her neuro-psychiatric center in Riem, she and her team treat hundreds of migrants, including many with Turkish roots. The 52-year-old is the only Turkish-speaking specialist in psychiatry and psychotherapy in the city.
