The Danish broadcaster DR quoted the Danish Environment Minister Magnus Heunicke, who expressed his shock at the attack on the online platform X. Everyone close to Frederiksen was shocked, wrote Heunicke. “In a democracy you use words. Not violence,” warned Transport Minister Trine Bramsen, while Economics Minister Morten Bødskov described the incident as “completely crazy” and “terrible.”

EU Council President Charles Michel condemned the “cowardly act of aggression” in a statement at X. EU Parliament President Roberta Metsola spoke of an “outrageous” attack and stressed that violence has no place in politics.
