Continuous rain in Bavaria: risk of flooding in the north – Bavaria

The continuous rain of the past few days has caused the water level in many rivers in northern Bavaria to rise. The areas of Itz, Rodach and Franconian Saale were particularly affected, said the flood intelligence service of the State Office for the Environment (LfU) on Friday. In some cases, reporting level 2 has been exceeded. This means that areas can be flooded and traffic on individual streets can be obstructed.

More water is to be expected in the streams and rivers by the weekend, and there could be further flooding. The flood news service also registered high water levels in the catchment areas of the upper Main, the Regnitz and the Regen.

On Sunday, “reaching reporting level 3 cannot be ruled out,” it said. This would mean that individual plots of land and basements could also be flooded.
