Consumption: How much retail does a city center need? – Business

from

The excavation in front of Andreas Wilhelm’s shop is now covered with tar. But before that, a red-and-white-striped construction site barrier stretches like a protective wall. And that for months. This is one of the reasons why Wilhelm decided to close down the plus size store that his grandfather founded 102 years ago. Not because of Corona, he says. Wilhelm is sitting in the middle of his shop between colorful cardboard signs. It says “clearance sale”. He sounds resigned. None of his children wanted to take over the shop either.
