Confessions should become more attractive again – Panorama

In the Vatican, theologians are discussing how to make confession more attractive again. Ironically, in times when sin is actually no longer a problem.

A singer from a formerly successful East German teen band, who is often and rightly praised here for his always clever statements, recently dictated the following sentence to a reporter from the German Press Agency: “I have a lot of vices. But I always think that’s okay. ” You immediately had to think back to the time when you were still singing in a teen band, albeit in a West German one. How to drunkly smash guitars on stage and hang out with groupies afterwards. The Church recognizes seven deadly sins: pride, envy, anger, sadness, avarice, gluttony and lust. The latter, in particular, really bothered you so much that, just to be on the safe side, you went into a musty wooden cupboard at least once a year to be acquitted of all your sins by a pastor.

At a conference in the Vatican, churchmen from all over the world discussed how confession, which has recently fallen out of fashion, can be made more attractive again. So also interesting for guys who find their trucks (see above) basically okay. The theologian Fabio Rosini advised at the meeting to make “joy, reconciliation and the good” the central theme of a confession. So will you see cheerfully flashing chains of lights hanging from the confessionals in the churches in the future? Are sweets laid out and coffee served? Actually, that wouldn’t be a bad idea at all, because the main thing should be that people find themselves and the vices God has given them “okay”. At least the not so bad ones.
