Conference of Health Ministers: Uniform rules for schoolchildren required

School is running again in most of the federal states. But the quarantine rules are still very different. The health ministers now want to change that. The incidence rose to 84.3.

The health ministers of the federal states want to talk about quarantine measures in the case of corona infections in schools. It should be about “rules that are as uniform as possible,” said the chairman of the conference of health ministers, Klaus Holetschek from Bavaria. So far, there are very different requirements for quarantine in the countries, should an infected student be found in a class. In some cases, only the people sitting next to you are already being quarantined.

Many students have not yet been vaccinated because there are currently no vaccines that are officially approved for children under the age of twelve. Recently, the number of infections had risen sharply, especially in younger age groups. Federal Education Minister Anja Karliczek had called on the states to agree on a clear line. She would be happy if the 14-day quarantine could be shortened with a clever test strategy, she told the “RedaktionsNetzwerk Deutschland” (RND). Federal Minister of Health Jens Spahn recently called for uniform guidelines.

Teachers’ Association warns against lifting of contact tracing

“If there is good ventilation in the classroom, if perhaps there is even a room air filter system in it, then you don’t have to send the children of an entire class into quarantine,” said Heinz-Peter Meidinger, President of the German Teachers’ Association, in the RND podcast “The School Lesson “. “Then you can also concentrate on your immediate neighbors.” It also plays a role whether there is a mask requirement. Vaccinated children do not have to be quarantined.

Meidinger emphasized that the bottom line is how exactly the situation on site looks. He understands that quarantine orders pose enormous problems for parents, but in some cases they are simply necessary. Sending only infected students to quarantine and completely foregoing contact tracing would be “a signal for the schools to be quickly infected,” he said.

The director of the Institute for Infection Medicine at Jena University Hospital, Mathias Pletz, had warned against rashly lifting corona measures in schools. “For all we know about Delta, you can’t just let it go.”

Official doctors for uniform quarantine rules

The chairwoman of the Federal Association of Doctors in the Public Health Service, Ute Teichert, also called for uniform rules. “The uncertainty among parents and teachers due to the many different quarantine rules is great,” she told the newspapers of the “Funke Mediengruppe”. In some cases, the procedures differ not only from country to country, but also between individual health authorities. “The federal states urgently need to agree on nationwide quarantine rules for schools,” demanded Teichert. “That creates security and facilitates the acceptance of the measures.”

Teichert spoke out in favor of considering protection concepts without a quarantine obligation. It makes sense to observe the currently running pilot projects in which alternatives to quarantine are being examined. “If it turns out that it is more effective to test the school contact persons of an infected student on a daily basis instead of sending them into quarantine, such a procedure should become the nationwide standard,” said Teichert.

4,749 new infections – incidence rises to 84.3

According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), the incidence rose to 84.3 – the previous day the value was 83.1, a week ago it was 75.8. The health authorities in Germany reported 4749 new corona infections to the RKI within one day. A week ago the value was 4559 infections. According to the new information, 8 deaths were recorded across Germany within 24 hours. A week ago there were 10 deaths. The RKI has counted 4,010,390 detected infections with Sars-CoV-2 since the beginning of the pandemic. The number of people who died with or with a proven infection with Sars-CoV-2 rose to 92,354.

why

Why are hygiene measures in schools being discussed so hysterically? The RKI regularly reports that we have almost no sources of infection in kindergartens and schools. Almost no child has problems with a corona infection and children at risk can be vaccinated from the age of twelve. Same goes for adults. If teachers are afraid of infection, do you have that fear with or without your own vaccination? The number of infections is currently high, but very few people have to go to hospital or even die. Slowly one can give the children back their free life. Or does a sow have to be driven through the village on a regular basis before the elections?
