Chamber music, organ concerts and the really big regalia with an orchestra choir: the series has long been popular not only in the Ebersberg district “Bach & More” is musically very diverse. Their creator and main actor, the Zornedinger cantor and organist Matthias Gerstner, has just published the new annual programme. It contains 15 dates in various churches, the focus is again on rarely heard pearls of the Baroque period, but also romantic or Viennese classics will be heard in finely balanced compilations. Many of the professional musicians involved are already well known in the region. The program is as varied and top-class as ever.
The starting signal for “Bach & more 2023” will be given this Saturday, January 21, with the first “Orgel-plus” concert. Irene Draxinger, oboe, Franz Draxinger, horn, and Matthias Gerstner, organ, play works by Georg Friedrich Handel, Georg Philipp Telemann and Johann Sebastian Bach in the Protestant Petrikirche Baldham. Start is at 7 p.m. The first chamber concert will be on Saturday, February 11, at 7 p.m. in Zorneding Town Hall, with Baroque music from Italy. Flutist Annette Hartig and Gerstner, this time at the harpsichord, will devote themselves to works by Giovanni Platti, Leonardo Vinci, Francesco Maria Veracin and Giuseppe Sammartini.

Romantic music for organ and cello can be heard on Saturday, March 4, at 7 p.m. in Baldham’s Petrikirche. Gerstner has invited Klaus Kämper, violoncello, to this concert. A great work, namely Reinhard Keiser’s St. Mark’s Passion, will be performed at the choir and orchestra concert on Sunday, March 26 at 6 p.m. in the Catholic Church of St. Martin in Zorneding. Making music: der Zorneding Jubilate ChoirMonika Lichtenegger (soprano), Camilla Bull (alto), Luca Gotti and Jonas Häusler (both tenor), Klaus Reiter (bass) and das Baroque Ensemble of Vaterstetten. The management is in the hands of Matthias Gerstner. On Good Friday there will be chamber music again: Regina Graf, violin, Dirk Michael Kirsch, oboe, Klaus Kämper, cello, and Matthias Gerstner, harpsichord, will perform works by Telemann, Handel and Johann Joachim Quantz on April 7th in the Protestant Christophoruskirche Zorneding . It starts at 18 o’clock.
At Pentecost, on Saturday, May 27, Gerstner will play an organ Vespers: works by Nicolaus Bruhns, Dietrich Buxtehude, Vincent Lübeck and Bach can be heard in the Petrikirche. It starts at 7 p.m., admission is free. However, donations are gladly accepted. There will be a concert for two flutes and organ on Sunday, June 18 at 7 p.m., again in the Petrikirche. Annette Hartig and Ivana Zahirovic, each on flute, and Matthias Gerstner, organ, interpret compositions by Franz Benda, Johann Gottlieb Graun, Johann Joachim Quantz and Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach.

The beautiful pilgrimage church of Sankt Ottilie in Möschenfeld offers the festive setting for another choir and orchestra concert on Sunday, July 2nd. The program includes Peter Cornelius’ Mass in D minor, CWV 91, and Johannes Brahms’ “Der 13. Psalm”, op. 27. The chamber choir can be heard Con Voce and the baroque ensemble of Vaterstetten, with brilliant soloists such as Monika Lichtenegger, soprano, and Melanie Arnhold, alto. Gerstner will conduct. A summer concert for saxophone and organ can be experienced on Saturday, July 22nd at 6 p.m. in the evangelical Johanneskirche in Kirchseeon. Hermann Rid and Gerstner play pieces by Eugéne Bozza, Astor Piazzolla, Bach and Handel. Admission is free here too, but donations are welcome.
After the summer break, things continue on Sunday, September 24, in the Petrikirche with trombone and organ: Elmar Spier and Gerstner present works by Jean Baptiste Loeillet, Willem de Fesch, Benedetto Marcello and Georg Christoph Wagenseil. It starts at 6 p.m. Festive music for trumpet, soprano and organ is offered on Sunday, October 15 at 5 p.m. in Sankt Ottilie. Konrad Müller, Monika Lichtenegger and Matthias Gerstner let Alessandro Melani, Alessandro Scarlatti, Giovanni Battista Bassani and Handel resound.

November offers two concerts: a trio will play music on Sunday, November 12, at 6 p.m. in the Petrikirche. Magdalena Hofer, recorder, Johanna Gerstner, violin, and Matthias Gerstner, organ, play works by Johann Joachim Quantz, Georg Philipp Telemann and Antonio Vivaldi. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Requiem, KV 626, and Franz Schubert’s “Stabat Mater” in g, D 175, will be heard at the choir and orchestra concert on Sunday, November 26, at 6 p.m. in the Catholic Church of Queen Mary Baldham. The works will be performed by the Jubilate Choir, the Baroque Ensemble and the soloists Monika Lichtenegger, Camilla Bull, Luca Gotti and Klaus Reiter.
December starts with an Advent concert in the Catholic Church of Sankt Aegidius Keferloh: Various instrumentalists and the chamber choir Con Voce present Christmas baroque music by Dietrich Buxtehude, Georg Philipp Telemann and Johann Vierdanck on Sunday, December 10 at 5 p.m. And at the end of the year there will be another New Year’s Eve concert for trumpet and organ: on Saturday, December 31, at 8 p.m., Immanuel Tommasini and Gerstner will play works by Bach, Handel and Telemann in the Christophoruskirche in Zorneding.
