After Cologne and Singapore, the world’s largest industry meeting for computer games and video games is now coming to São Paulo. Numerous gamers, developers and influencers are expected at the trade fair.

The world’s largest computer game and video game trade fair Gamescom is coming to Latin America. Starting today, exhibitors such as Nintendo, Atari, Warner Bros. and Sega will be showing their latest games in the metropolis of São Paulo. Until June 30, gamers can immerse themselves in virtual worlds at over 400 stations. According to the organizers, over 50 new games will be presented at the trade fair. Brazil is now the third venue for Gamescom, alongside the home location in Cologne and a branch in Singapore.

The trade fair is the world’s largest industry meeting place for computer and video games. “With Gamescom latam, our portfolio of activities is perfectly complemented in terms of content and geography by an extremely successful format and the global Gamescom brand,” said Koelnmesse CEO Gerald Böse.

The Governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas, said: “With Gamescom latam, we want to open up opportunities for young people, promote economic development with more jobs and income, strengthen digital culture and the creative industries and promote the expansion of these sectors in Brazil.”

The games industry has been growing for years, but German developers only play a minor role. The industry is said to have great potential in the age of digitalization, especially since its developments could also provide impetus in other economic sectors, such as artificial intelligence (AI) and virtual reality (VR).
