The semicolon is the strangest of all punctuation marks. It half closes one sentence and lets you glimpse the next. It is no coincidence that one of Johannes X. Schachtner’s most recent compositions, written in 2020 and now premiered, bears this title. Schachtner’s pieces are explorations of the in-between, undoubtedly current, but with a glimpse of the familiar.
