A complaint for “endangering the life of others” was filed Friday by the mayor of Quimperle (Finistère), Michaël Quernez, against the organizers of a demonstration which brought together 600 people on Sunday, “the vast majority” of whom did not respect the barrier gestures, the town hall said. The complaint was filed, “in connection with the Prefect” of Finistère Philippe Mahé, with the judicial court of Quimper, she specifies.
The prefecture of Finistère informed that the “prefect had made a report to the public prosecutor of Quimper under article 40 of the code of criminal procedure”, which imposes on any authority having knowledge of a crime or ‘a crime to report it to justice. The complaint targets the officials of the association “A l’ère libre”, which campaigns “for the rights of the child and to ensure the well-being and freedoms of future generations”, according to its website.

It also targets the heads of the national “Réinfocovid” and “Let the doctors prescribe” collectives, as well as “any other legal or natural person having a responsibility in the organization and running of the event”, according to the city of Quimperlé. “Contrary to the express request of the mayor (…), the vast majority of people present did not respect the barrier gestures (wearing a mask, physical distancing)”, had deplored the day after the demonstration the town hall.
“It is unbearable to witness such behavior when so much effort has been made in the country of Quimperlé, for more than a year, to fight against the pandemic and the transmission of COVID-19”, she added. During this demonstration, which brought together some 600 people, nearly 140 verbalizations for non-wearing of the mask, lack of a Covid-19 derogatory certificate or inconvenient parking were drawn up, according to the prefecture.
