From

Wolfgang Janisch

It was only a few days ago that the Federal Council opposed the protection of “whistle-blowers”. He refused to approve the long-awaited law passed in the Bundestag. Tailwind for the whistleblowers is now coming from Strasbourg: The European Court of Human Rights has agreed with Raphaël Halet, who appealed to the Revelations in the Lux Leaks Affair was involved. It was about deals between Luxembourg and international corporations to reduce the tax burden. Halet’s €1,000 fine by Belgium’s Supreme Court violates the European Convention on Human Rights. The court awarded Halet 15,000 euros in compensation, plus 40,000 euros for his costs.
