Column: Another Söder was sighted in Regensburg – Bavaria

Within less than two weeks he fell into the photo traps of the journalists: Söder was sighted again in Regensburg. Unlike the bear in Upper Bavaria, where it has not been entirely clear for a few weeks whether it is always one and the same animal, in the case of Regensburg it can be assumed that it is one and the same Bavarian Prime Minister who is doing his mischief drives in the cathedral city.

It doesn’t even need to match pawprints. Authorities, interest groups and representatives of the press have been informed in detail about Söder’s sightings – even before the sightings. Especially since Söder, unlike the bear or bears, is not in the least afraid of people. According to the findings so far, he behaves conspicuously and does not avoid farmsteads, settlements and people a bit.

This could be seen about last week during the Söder sighting at the House of Bavarian History. Press people and Regensburgers spotted the prime minister moving from the museum in the direction of the Wurstkuchl on the Steinerne Brücke, presumably in search of food. Two young people, possibly first-time voters in the state elections in autumn, approached Söder. They disregarded the rules of conduct when dealing with politicians in the great outdoors and muddled past the security guards. Meanwhile, they mumbled something about “Selfie” and “Frogn hoid”.

Söder willingly smiled at the boys’ cell phone cameras and then continued on towards Wurst. It is not known whether this Söder reference was passed on to the relevant authorities for comparison with other traces. But as I said, Söder has now been sighted and photographed so often in Regensburg that the matter should actually be clear: He has left his original distribution area in Franconia and is now at home in the Upper Palatinate.

However, it must be added that this must then apply to all regions in Bavaria. Söder sightings have been reported from almost the entire Free State, especially since the election campaign has picked up speed. No beer tent, no volunteer fire brigade, no district town cinema without a proven stay of Söder. So are there multiple copies?

Experts can, thank God, give the all-clear. Söder can cover at least between 150 and 250 kilometers per day. That would be, for example, the route from Nuremberg to Regensburg – and back.
