Coach crash near Inzell – nine seriously injured

A coach crashed on the federal highway 305 near Inzell in the district of Traunstein at around 7:30 a.m. this morning. Nine people were seriously injured – including a 16-year-old girl.

A double-decker bus from the Beckum district in North Rhine-Westphalia falls over the embankment near Inzell. 61 people were on the bus, including children. A total of nine passengers were seriously injured. Rescue helicopters took them to nearby hospitals. A 16-year-old girl was flown to the Murnau accident clinic. Many of the other vehicle occupants suffered minor injuries.

The cause of the accident is being investigated

According to the police’s initial findings, the vehicle hit the shoulder, drove down a five-meter-high embankment and overturned. The cause of the serious bus accident has yet to be investigated. The federal highway 305 was wet at the time of the accident, it had snowed lightly in the morning.

Obstacles to holiday traffic

The rescue work is now complete. However, the bus has yet to be recovered. In the Siegsdorf/Inzell area, there are now traffic jams due to holiday traffic, especially ski tourists. It is still unclear how long the B 305 will remain closed.
