Almost five months after its closure due to the violent fire which ravaged 7,000 hectares of pines in Teste-de-Buch this summer, the D218 road will finally reopen on December 17, announced this Wednesday the Gironde prefecture. Rallying the roundabout of the Pilat dune in Biscarrosse, an area where there were very active fronts, it was closed on July 13 for security reasons.

Provisional terms

The maximum speed authorized on the secondary road will be temporarily lowered to 50 km/h, or even 30 km/h on the least secure sections. The road may also be temporarily closed to traffic, if necessary or due to weather conditions.

It will be forbidden to park all along this axis and the cycle path remains closed, bicycles and cars will have to coexist on the same lane. Access to the forest massif will remain strictly prohibited, according to the provisions of the municipal decree of the municipality of La Teste-de-Buch of September 30, 2022 and access to track 214 also, according to the provisions of the prefectural decree. of August 9, 2022. Access to the ocean beaches will be regulated and limited to the car parks.
