Many are aware that climate protection is important – but unfortunately not all countries are following suit. Climate scientist Prof Mojib Latif says we need to focus on the willing. And that consistently.

“Those who really want it must tackle it now and create an economic area in which climate protection also means something – and must also seal off this economic area from other countries such as China, no matter how difficult it may be, so that they do not spoil our markets with theirs flood with dirty products and end up destroying our economy,” says Prof. Latif in the 317th episode of the podcast “important today”. Mojib Latif is not only a climate researcher and meteorologist, he is also President of the Academy of Sciences in Hamburg. In an interview with host Michel Abdoallhi, he emphasizes that we no longer have time to do persuasion: “We haven’t learned anything from the limits of growth for half a century, now I think it has to be the way that the willing go ahead.”

Podcast “important today”

Sure, opinionated, on the 12: “today important” is not just a news podcast. We set topics and initiate debates – with attitude and sometimes uncomfortable. Host Michel Abdollahi and his team speak out for this star– and RTL reporters with the most exciting people from politics, society and entertainment. They let all voices have their say, both the quiet and the loud. Anyone who hears “important today” starts the day well informed and can have a well-founded say.

People must benefit from climate protection

“We humans don’t do things just like that, we actually only do it when we benefit from it. And that’s why I think climate legislation has to be aligned in such a way that people benefit from it,” says Prof. Latif and leads the 9- Euro ticket. If public transport in Germany is well equipped, with WiFi and enough trains, then we would all automatically travel more by train than by car.
