After a whole series of members of the Bundestag, Bundestag Vice-President Claudia Roth has now also reported special payments to the Bundestag. According to her, it is EUR 5008 Christmas bonus from 2013, which she accidentally failed to provide. In March it became known that Chancellor candidate Annalena Baerbock had reported late payments. In Roth’s case, it was initially said that there were no failures. Last week, however, the Greens headquarters noticed that a report for 2013 was missing.
“In the course of researching the special payments to the members of the federal executive committee of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen, I found out through the party headquarters that I received the Christmas bonus for the party executive, which was introduced for the first time in 2011,” said Roth Augsburger Allgemeine. Today’s top candidate of the Bavarian Greens, who was party leader twice, had been entitled to Christmas bonuses since 2011. Since she was also in the Bundestag, she had to report the income there within three months. For reasons of transparency, the information will then be published.
According to this, Roth reported the Christmas bonus 2011 and 2012 on time. In September 2013, after a weak Bundestag election result for the Greens, Roth resigned. She received a proportion of her Christmas bonus for 2013 anyway.
Roth: Failure in the hustle and bustle of the election year
The report to the Bundestag, however, was “obviously missed once due to the hectic pace of the 2013 election year and the subsequent resignation as federal chairman,” said Roth. As soon as the Greens headquarters informed them about the special payment, they made up for it.
Green Chancellor candidate Annalena Baerbock had reported special payments of a good 25,000 euros to the Bundestag administration in the spring, the former Green boss Cem Özdemir about 20,000 euros. As a result, members of the CDU, CSU, FDP and SPD also corrected their information on additional income, among them the SPD politician Karl Lauterbach.
