According to media reports, the FBI searched President Biden’s offices in Washington in November. So far it was only known that the investigators had searched in his private home in Delaware.

The FBI apparently searched a former office of US President Joe Biden in Washington in November. This is reported by several US media, including the broadcasters CBS, CNN and Fox News. Accordingly, the investigators searched the rooms in the Penn Biden Center after Biden’s employees found confidential documents there in early November. The documents were classified documents from Biden’s time as Vice President.

It was unclear whether additional documents were discovered during the FBI search, it said. The search was carried out in cooperation with Biden’s team, a search warrant was not requested.

So far only known search in January

In the past few weeks, confidential documents have repeatedly appeared in Biden’s private rooms – the first tranche was discovered in a locked cupboard on November 2 – shortly before the congressional elections in the USA. Afterwards, secret documents also appeared in his private home and garage in Wilmington, Delaware. In January, the FBI searched Biden’s home.

It was not previously known that the investigators had previously searched the office in Washington.

Biden criticized for lack of education

In this case, new details keep coming to light. Biden and the White House are therefore criticized. The White House emphasizes that Biden’s lawyers immediately informed the National Archives after the first find. However, the public only found out about it in January when the broadcaster CBS reported about it. In response to the initial discovery, Biden’s staff then looked elsewhere.

Special Counsel investigates incidents

Attorney General Merrick Garland has now appointed a special prosecutor to investigate the incidents. For the President, the revelations are politically very sensitive, because it is not allowed to store confidential government documents privately after leaving office. The National Archives are responsible for this in the USA.

Secret documents were also found on his predecessor Donald Trump, for which Biden had criticized him.
