Citizens’ Assembly – Plea against more buses – District of Munich

The residents of the Äußere Hauptstrasse in Neubiberg would prefer to avoid more noise and traffic from additional buses. For example, on Thursday at the citizens’ meeting in the auditorium of the Neubiberg primary school, a resident called for the Ludwig-Bölkow-Campus in Ottobrunn not to be connected by bus from the Neuperlach Süd subway station via the Äußere Hauptstraße, as planned, but from the S- Train station in Hohenbrunn. Otherwise the Neubiberger would be very stressed, he said. It would hardly bother the Hohenbrunners because the campus is west of the community. There is no residential development there.

The wish will not come true. As Mayor Thomas Pardeller (CSU) told the 30 visitors and an average of 95 viewers at home via streaming, the aim is to connect the campus well. You can now use the good timing of the subway. He does not know whether the idea proposed by the resident has been examined in depth, even if he is a member of the district’s mobility committee. But he could imagine that the U-Bahn and the S-Bahn would be connected. “The really sustainable idea is the underground expansion – that’s what we’re fighting for,” he said.

He also had to take the illusion away from another resident, who cannot imagine another bus route on Outer Main Street because of the heavy traffic. “The buses are designed to help ensure that there is less traffic on the road,” he said. To say that one more bus is bad is too easy. Meanwhile, the town hall chief had to report on many progress made in the community, including some construction projects. So the construction phase around the extension of the town hall should start in the coming year, after the new municipal council has agreed on a more compact design. The planning for the new senior citizen center is also ongoing. Construction is scheduled to start before 2024, earlier than expected last year. The community had put the project on hold because of the bad budget situation caused by the corona. The resumption of the project was possible because the municipality is generating higher business tax income this year than initially thought.

Pardeller also emphasized the progress made in terms of climate protection. The municipality has set itself the goal of being climate-neutral by 2040 at the latest, the administration wants to achieve this as early as 2030. “We want to be a good example,” he said. One of the challenges he named was achieving climate neutrality in old houses. This topic will also play a role in the renovation of the communal apartments in Cramer-Klett-Strasse 34 and 36 and Siegfriedstrasse 1a and 1b. But not only that: In the concept that has now been decided on for the project there, attention is paid to moderate redensification and the preservation of the garden city character, which the municipality has always attached great importance to. Two more houses are to be built and the playground in the north is not touched.

As proof that today hardly anything works without the digital – the community also receives a digital master plan that also deals with “e-files” – Pardeller campaigned for the use of the recently introduced “democy app”. He let the audience test them for themselves on their mobile devices. Citizens can use it to express their opinion on current issues. “We hope to get an even better sense of what moves you,” he said.
