Christoph Maria Herbst and Christiane Paul experience a marriage crisis in the new film. How would you react privately to an affair?
Christoph Maria Herbst (55) and Christiane Paul (47) play in “It’s just a phase, rabbit” (theatrical release: October 14th) a married couple who cheat on each other. In an interview with “Bild am Sonntag”, the two actors talked about the topic of infidelities. Both agree: Cheating is a “difficult” matter.
Herbst would like his partner to confess the affair to him: “If you find out, I think it’s even worse.” Paul, on the other hand, does not see confession as a universal solution. “Sometimes it can also be a provocation,” she notes.
Christoph Maria Herbst: “Would never say: ‘That’s it'”
The co-stars also disagree on the subject of forgiveness. “I would never say: ‘That’s it’. And then just throw away 15, 20, 30 years,” emphasizes the 55-year-old. Meanwhile, Paul has “no idea how I would react”. “My life experience from other situations tells me, however, that you react very differently than you intended,” says the 47-year-old.
Christoph Maria Herbst would also ask “what my part is”. Because in his opinion “not just two, but always three” are part of an affair.
Christiane Paul is married for the second time. She has a daughter and a son from previous relationships. Christoph Maria Herbst has been with his partner Gisi since 2012. The two are not married and have no children.
