Christian Estrosi says more about the future of bowling and the cinematheque

After months of mysteries, Christian Estrosi unveiled, during a press conference this Thursday afternoon, some elements on the future of the last two structures housed within Acropolis, the exhibition center of Nice, destined to disappear in 2023 to extend the green flow.

The relocation of bowling had become a central issue in recent months, as the “unknowns” were great, on the part of employees, bowling enthusiasts and clubs. A petition had even been launched. The mayor of Nice then specified that the activity will be preserved in the same place until March 2023. It is on this same date, and not before, that the elected representative will present one of the two tracks selected to relocate the bowling , which would be located in the city center.

The cinematheque will be a place of transition. Its relocation is planned “definitively by 2027 while continuing its activity from February 2023”, assured Christian Estrosi. These four years will be used to build a “new generation cinematheque”, “in the immediate vicinity of the exhibition center”.

In the meantime, from 2023 to the end of 2026 therefore, the cinematheque will be housed at the Mégarama, in Saint-Jean-d’Angely, but also, once a month, at the Lino Ventura theater, to the east of the city, as well as at the Quai de la Douane, at the port of Nice, with outdoor screenings from the end of June to mid-September, every Tuesday.

Separate food and flowers

Regarding the Market of National Interest (MIN), it will not move, as planned for several years, on the grounds of La Baronne. The community wants to terminate the construction contract with Bouygues, which requires an additional cost of ten million euros. Thus, the MIN Fleurs will find itself in the medium term in Saint-Laurent-du-Var. The transfer can be made in early 2024 with the agreement of the prefect, said the town hall.

For the MIN Food, a transfer is also planned. A call for projects will be launched in early 2023 with the presentation of the winner in March with a precise timetable. “In the meantime, the wholesalers are staying on the current site. Nothing changes,” concluded the mayor.
