Choreographer Kader Belarbi expelled from the Ballet du Capitole

Nothing is going well behind the usually hushed backstage of the Capitol Ballet In Toulouse. Kader Belarbi, its director of dance for ten years, has just landed. “An internal administrative investigation carried out within the ballet has in fact, after the unanimous opinion of the joint consultative commission, led the establishment to put an end to the missions of Mr. Kader Belarbi”, indicates Toulouse Métropole this Sunday, confirming information made public. by the interested party on Saturday. This decision would be linked to a complaint filed by a dancer who is no longer part of the troupe and which would have caused tongues to loosen, on the way the choreographer directed the ballet. It would also be based on the significant turnover of dancers in recent times.

The Choreographer filed a complaint

In a press release, the relatives of Kader Belarbi denounce for their part “an expeditious dismissal which takes place without respecting the rights of the defense, nor investigations into the real motivations of an isolated complaint as late as it is incoherent”. They note that this “decision as brutal as it is vexatious” comes at the same time as the announcement of the choreographer to create a Foundation carrying a project of “Dance for all”.

The 60-year-old former star dancer announces that he has filed with the public prosecutor of Toulouse “a criminal complaint for slanderous denunciation against the former dancer who insulted him and against those who deliberately exploited this unfair challenge”.

“Touring projects and programming are maintained”, specifies this Sunday the National Opera of the Capitol.
