Children in Ingolstadt get a flower meadow after complaint – Bavaria

You might not be able to call it a miracle, but it is good news, and that is – given the current state of the news – a miracle after all. Firstly, this story features a Green politician who does not resign. Whether that is good news or not is something everyone has to decide for themselves, but it is strange considering the wave of Green resignations that is currently sweeping through the country.

And secondly, citizens and politicians get along wonderfully here, even without hate comments, yes, really no hate, and the politician is a Green Party member. She simply did what the citizens wanted, even though they can’t vote for her because they are children. And at the end of this story there are not only happy children’s faces, but also beautiful flowers. Really: Too good to be true. But from the beginning.

The story begins again with something that comes very close to a miracle, with astonished elementary school students. They didn’t quite understand why in science class they were learning about all kinds of native flowers that are supposedly found outside in nature on their doorsteps, and then they stood in front of the door and could only see a lawn. Shortly cut, without any wildflowers. And that despite the fact that Markus Söder once wanted to save the bees in Bavaria. But hey, that was a long time ago.

In their astonishment, the students did not turn to the Prime Minister, who would probably have taken a selfie with every single child. Children, dogs and sausages are always a good idea. No, they wrote their request not to mow the meadow so often to the third mayor of Ingolstadt, a Green. She was delighted. It is understandable, a meadow like this is easier to deal with than the migration issue. So, during a visit to the school after the summer holidays, she announced: Yes, the children will get their flower meadow! It may not be a miracle, it is just a meadow, but it is beautiful nonetheless.
