Chernihiv: How are people doing after the Russian attacks? – Politics

Chernihiv was partly in ruins after the Russian attacks. The houses on Tolstojstrasse are still standing, but they are badly damaged, some of them burnt out. A visit to people who don’t know what to do next.

Chernihiv is an hour and a half drive north of Kyiv, halfway to the Belarusian border. The Russian army had shot up the large bridge that leads into the city from the south at the very beginning of their campaign at the end of February; If you want to drive to the once so proud, beautiful city with its dozens of churches and cathedrals, its old garrison complexes, parks and mansions, you have to take long detours along small streets along endless fields and birch forests.
