Christin Stark will moderate the “Schlager of the Month” in the future

A generational change in the world of hits: The singer Christin Stark (“Spinnst Du”) will lead through the chart show “Schlager des Jahres” on MDR television from February. The 33-year-old succeeds 70-year-old Bernhard Brink, whose departure was announced by MDR at the beginning of November. “I’m very grateful that I get this chance,” Stark said on Friday evening on the show “The Advent Festival of 100,000 Lights” with moderator Florian Silbereisen in the first. She was “totally excited because I’ve never done it before”. Now you have to “practice, practice, practice”.

In order to prepare for interviews, she also relies on the support of her husband, pop singer Matthias Reim (65). “I can imagine that I’ll probably be distributing 100 pieces of paper all over the house with a lot of different questions that he then has to answer. He probably doesn’t even know what to expect,” joked Stark.

With the change of moderator, the program should also be refreshed in terms of content, according to MDR information. In addition to hits, popular pop songs that have made it into the charts will also be played from February. Studio guests and backstage reports are still planned.

The final show with Brink is scheduled for January 6th. “Bernhard deserves our heartfelt thanks for the many years of good cooperation and for the many successes that we have had together,” explained MDR entertainment director Peter Dreckmann. “Even if we have now decided on a new moderator, the singer Bernhard Brink will of course continue to be part of our programs.”

“Schlager des Jahres” has been an integral part of the MDR program since 2018. The next issue runs on December 9th at 8:15 p.m.
