Chancellor Scholz – “You can’t rely on Russia” – Economy

From the point of view of Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Germany must be prepared for the fact that Russia will stop supplying oil as well as gas. “I was very sure from the start that Russia cannot be relied on to meet its commitments, for example when it comes to gas supplies,” said the Chancellor. “And we are now preparing for the fact that a similarly difficult situation can arise for the two east German refineries that are connected to the Druzhba pipeline.” In order to secure the production and supply of fuel, heating oil and other oil products, the federal government has taken control of the German subsidiaries of the Russian state-owned company Rosneft. This primarily affects the PCK refinery in Schwedt/Oder in Brandenburg, which receives Russian oil via the Druzhba pipeline and supplies large parts of north-east Germany with fuel, but also the refinery in Leuna in Saxony-Anhalt. On the other hand, the Russian Rosneft now wants to go to court.
