Chancellor in Wonderland – Politics

Indecisive, blinded and incompetent – CDU / CSU parliamentary group leader Friedrich Merz makes strong accusations against the head of government. Olaf Scholz, on the other hand, dismisses this as sheer nonsense – and makes a meaningful comparison.

Friedrich Merz goes into the general debate boosted. The evening before, the CDU boss attended a book presentation, a biography about him with the powerful title “The Unbending”. The co-writer said that was also the name of a film starring Robert Redford. On top of that, there was even praise from a social democrat: ex-SPD leader Sigmar Gabriel explained that Merz had teased the chancellor in the Bundestag so much that he – without a script and visibly agitated – really came out of himself. “It takes something for Olaf Scholz to show emotions,” said Gabriel. A powerfully eloquent opposition leader would make the government better.
